Hi hiii =]

Since I'll be away on a short holiday soon, I thought I would make a post here covering the progress I made with Bobbi's redesign last month and talk a bit about their new voicebank details here! I've also been unwell for the past 2 weeks (relentless migraines, stomach pains and an extremely scuffed sleep pattern @_@) so I haven't been able to work on anything yet this month outside of creating this new blog, but I'm hoping to get back on track when I'm home again.

First up: redesign things!! I made a ton of progress on Bobbi's new design last month. Below are some of the WIP images I previously posted to my Bluesky page. Clicking on the images will open them in full size for easier viewing!

I then did this super quick sketch of the design so far, mostly to try out another stabiliser setting so I could sketch faster and looser haha

Still got a lot more things to tweak and finalise for this design, but I'm getting close to the vision I have in mind for Bobbi's new look ๐Ÿ˜ค

. . . . .

Next, I want to talk about Bobbi's new voicebank! After doing a bunch of test recordings, I decided I wasn't happy with the quality of my AT2020USB+ microphone Q_Q It made my recordings sound super flat and the quality also became very muffled after moving to my new PC, and no matter what I tried doing to fix it I just couldn't resolve the problem... So instead I have upgraded my recording setup! I will now be using a Rode NT1 Signature Series mic and the Scarlett 2i2 4th Gen audio interface ^_^ I've never used an audio interface or an XLR microphone before, so I've been watching a ton of tutorials on how to set those up. I'm excited to play around with all of the settings when I'm back from my holiday! The interface has arrived so far, and the mic should be arriving soon, hopefully before I leave home ๐Ÿ˜ฐ

In regards to the actual voicebank itself, I've decided that I want to give CVVC a try! I've only ever made regular CV and VCV banks before, but I love the amount of control and customisation that you can get out of CVVC banks. Less samples to record as well which makes it easier for me to record all of the pitches I plan on adding, but I will also be including a bunch of extra things for multilingual capabilities :3c My plan is to release the bank with most of the base pitches recorded, and then update with appends and any other additional pitches later on!

. . . . .

That's everything so far! I'm really happy with how much progress I have been making this year. I had hoped I could've finished everything last year for Bobbi's 15th anniversary, but due to being busy with redecorating and moving rooms + other things, I fell behind and was quite stressed out with how much stuff I had to juggle all at once :'I Though I am actually glad that I've been taking longer to work on everything, since I did want more time to really make Bobbi's new design and voicebank something I'm truly proud of and happy with <:) This year WILL be the year Bobbi returns to UTAU, I am so sure of it raaaaaaaaghghhhh ( โ—ž•ฬ€ะด•ฬ)โ—ž

Thank you for reading!! ๐Ÿ’œ

Hello hello! Nights here with a brand new blog!! o/

This time, I have created a blog to act as my vocal synth content-centric hub, where I will be posting my works such as art, song covers, videos, possibly also crafts and 3D modelling, and a lot of rambling about things I'm working on, all relating to vocal synths. and most importantly, all things relating to my UTAU, Bobbi! I actually ran a blog like this when I was younger and it was a lot of fun, so I decided to start over with a nice new fancy blog here on dreamwidth to run alongside my main blog =]

I'll add a little introduction here as well, for anyone new that has just stumbled across this blog!

My name is Jay, but I also go by the nickname "Nights" online.
I am an artist, cosplayer, gamer and collector from the UK, and my pronouns are he / him!

I got into vocal synths sometime in late 2007 after stumbling across a few Hatsune Miku songs and 3DPVs that were reuploaded from Nico Nico Douga to YouTube, and it altered my brain chemistry ever since. I quickly began uploading my own videos when I signed up for my own YouTube account in 2009, including stop-motion animations with my small collection of figmas at the time, and MikuMikuDance videos. I then went on to creating my own UTAU, the aforementioned "Bobbi", in early 2010! Unfortunately I did wipe a ton of my old content from the internet (I was going through A Lot in my early teens TT_TT), but I've always held vocal synths and my UTAU child very near and dear to my heart. I have been slowly but surely attempting to return to creating vocal synth content, particularly with the revival and redesign of Bobbi which I have been working on for the past couple years ^_^ I've been making a ton of progress and I hope to fiiiiiiiiiinally be finished with Bobbi's redesign and release a new voicebank for them this year.

I do also own a few commercial voicebanks, all physical copies! As of writing this post, I currently have:
  • VOCALOID 2 - Hatsune Miku, Hatsune Miku Append, Kagamine Rin & Len, Kagamine Rin & Len Append, Megurine Luka, SF-A2 Miki
  • VOCALOID 3 - 2 copies of SeeU (the regular original big box version and Renewal Package edition), IA
  • VOCALOID 4 - SF-A2 Miki Natural, UNI
  • VOCALOID 6 - IA :[R]
  • Synthesizer V - Kasane Teto
I really love collecting vocal synth boxes haha, and I've always really wanted to create a physical copy of Bobbi's voicebanks for fun some day ูฉ(หŠแ—œห‹*)ูˆ

. . . . .

That's all I can think of for now! Just wanted to keep my first post on this blog fairly simple, but also I do not know how to keep anything I do simple LOL, but thank you very much for reading and I look forward to sharing more of my vocal synth works with you soon! โ™ซโ™ช
